In Junk We Trust Style

Hello my lovely friends! I have been quite obsessed with plants during this lovely spring/winter/summer season this year. My personal favorites are the succulents and the cactus. My lovely fiance decided that we could go to a nursery to get some! While there, we found this amazing trees called Weeping Norway Spruce. They look to be actually weeping because their trunk and all the branches hang down.

We decided that we should stop by Walmart and check out their garden section because nursery prices are crazy! Who has like fifteen dollars to buy the exact same cactus that you can get at Walmart for a maximum of three dollars? I sure do not! We did not end up getting any cactus or succulents while there but we did get a baby blueberry bush. There are even three little flowers on the bush which should be turning into blueberries.

I got to look at all the pretty rose bushes though. Sadly, Wyatt wasn't really excited about taking one of them home.

I did learn get to learn how to drive a stick shift though. Wyatt decided to take me down a back country road to let me try it out in our new truck. I actually managed not to kill the truck while learning. I did not realize how hard it is to push in the clutch while driving. Perhaps it is because the truck is a 1979 Ford F250 Custom.
While I was trying not to pop a leg muscle while driving down the country road, we drove past this adorable little shabby chic barn that had a bunch of buffalo! Buffalo, everyone, buffalo! We turned the beast around, pulled her over, and attempted to get a picture of the buffalo without the farmer coming out and shooting us. This is the best I got even after zooming in. Perhaps, if I drive by there a lot, the owner will either call the cops or let me pet them! I guess I can afford to dream big right?
After driving around town, looking for plants and buffalo, we went home and tried to organize my 'pickings' that we are hoarding in the backyard. We have been saving pallets for a little while now in hopes that we would be able to create a porch in our little patch of dirt behind the garage. Below is the picture of what it looks like so far. I believe it looks pretty cool! Very In Junk We Trust style.

Today Wyatt and I went and got more cactus. I got four more!! The picture below is of the married couple of cactus that I bought. The more fuzzy cactus is called the Old Lady of Peru while the less fuzzy cactus is called the Old Man of the Andes. Wouldn't they just make the most adorable wedding cake topper?
I also got these two new cactus of which I planted together in one pot. They seem to thrive better in groupings.
I have a mini collection going on right now. I also have another cactus that is native to Colorado but she doesn't look as pretty right now because she is planted strangely in a pot. Later this summer I will post a picture of her after I replant her.
As some of you may know, last September there was a very large flood in Colorado that washed away hundreds of homes and created a lot of chaos all over the state. We live especially close the mountains, which were heavily effected, and were banned from going up their for months until they fixed parts of the road. Me being the strange person, I was thrilled to see huge piles of 'trash' from all of the devastation, piled upon the road all the way to Estes Park and Glen Haven. I can not stress enough that I am very sorry for all of the people that have been effected by this natural disaster however, that is not going to stop me from taking their trash to use as decoration in my booth or my house. I will also specify that I am not trespassing on peoples' property. These piles are right off of the road. I have gotten pieces of barn wood, metal fencing, chicken wire, an old hand saw, tin pieces, as well as our newest finds, a barn door, a vintage enamel pot, and tree stumps.
I hope you all enjoy this hilarious picture of me peeing in a pot found in one of the piles earlier tonight. We were miles away from a bathroom and I am not fond of peeing on my boots. I will post pictures of what I do with our finds as I get them ready. Happy picking all!
