Backyard Camping!
Over last weekend, my family and I decided we would all camp out in my dad's backyard. We brought our tents and food, chairs and a good attitude for what I believe to be one of the best 'trips' ever! Fran and Bob came and slept in the house; Nikki, Nathan, Alex, and their dog Buddy came and slept in their tent; Nate, Heather, and Hunter came and slept in their tent; Wyatt and I tested out our brandy- new tent that Nikki gave us; Sherry and Scott slept in their tent with their two dogs Maggie and Joe; while Dad and Gwyn were party poopers and slept in the house.
As some of you may know, I took a photography class in both junior high as well as high school. I have always been fasintated by the manipulations you can do with light, lenses, and the different angles and the outcome of the photos. Eventhough I do not own a fancy digital camera, I have my phone and I take pictures on it constantly! These individual pictures of the family members were taken using the black and white function on my phone along with the flashlight which gave us our only light source at night. These are the outcomes of the pictures! I am very sorry to those few that I lost their photos while getting them from a to b.
I also found the negative function on my phone and played with it throughout the trip creating a great negative/ postive picture of Wyatt. Below are pictures of Buddy, Nikki's dog, in his new turtle costume that Nikki bought for him at a garage sale. He hated the costume but it sure made for hilarious pictures wouldn't you say? The dog below Buddy's pictures, on the left, is Joe, my aunt Sherry's dog. I just love this picture of him. Next to that picture is Fran and Bob's dog, Abby. It was near impossible to take a picture of this dog but when I finally did, it came out amazing! Look at those eyebrows! The only dog that I couldn't get a picture of was Maggie. Maggie is the newest member to the gang and is a Shih Tzu puppy with brown and black hair and weighs a whopping four pounds. I am pretty sure I am going to steal her someday!
Yes Wyatt and I actually slept in that little, tiny tent comfortably! It is hard to believe it but we managed to get a queen sized air mattress in there. It was from wall to wall but it was in there alright.
I captured a lot of candid photos of the family in black and white. We were all sitting around the firepit that my dad has, in our chairs.
On Saturday morning, I had to be in a parade for Chick- Fil- A at 8:45 am. The parade was for the Corn Roast which if you know me at all, is right up my alley. I ended up getting a free ear of corn so while waiting for the family to escape from the crowds of Loveland parades, we took some silly pictures with it. The picture above is of Wyatt with his corn head. Below is a simple, yet elegant picture of me holding the corn. Below that, we have Wyatt and myself pretending to eat corn.
I took a negative shot of the corn that I had eaten and this was the fabulous shot I got! Below is the picture my daddy sent to me to show me the location of the tribe so I could find them while I was in the parade. I ended up being on the other side of the street as them because I was assigned where to walk. I did hear their cheers though!
After the parade and garage sale hopping, it was time to come back home and play some Ladder Ball. My brother, Nate, and I whooped every opposing team's butts! It is frankly because we are awesome!
I was playing with the negative function again. Below, if you can't tell, is a negative image of the fire in the corner with the family faintly in the background. The one below it is of the porch.
Can anyone say, "sepia happiness"?! I sure can!
While we were garage sale hopping, we saw a herd of elk hanging out in a pasture next to a corn field off of 1st street and Wilson in Loveland. Two of them got really close to the road and even attempted to cross but they were frightened by all of the cars.
On Sunday, after all the family had gone home and after we had gone home, my dad asked me and Wyatt if we wanted to go for a ride in the Mustang. On the way up the canyon, we stopped at Dairy Delite and got some delicious ice cream. I got the new Banana Cream Pie Snowdevil which is basically like a Blizzard from DQ. It was amazing!! Definitely something I would get again. After ice cream we headed up to Masonville and I say a Flattop mountain that was really pretty but it didn't turn out as gorgeous as in real life. I hope you all have enjoyed getting an insider's view of my life. It has been a blast so far!
